ABSTRACT
Acacia mangium Willd. is a fast-growing tree species planted widely in Peninsular Malaysia. A glasshouse experiment was conducted to assess the growth response of A. mangium seedlings to N, P, K fertilizers. Nitrogen (urea) and phosphorus (P; O5 ) were applied at four levels and potassium (K, O) at two levels. The levels of treatments for nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers were 100, 350, 600 and 800 kg/ha and 100 and 200 kg/ha for potassium fertilizer. The study was conducted in a glasshouse for a period of 5 months. The results demonstrated that application of nitrogen (urea) and phosphorus (P, O5 ) at 800 kg/ha and potassium (K, O) at 100 kg/ha is necessary for enhancing optimum growth of A. mangium seedlings on Serdang soil series.
